Can you believe that it is already that time of year again!? Yes, the season of festive gatherings and special foods is pretty much in full effect. Unfortunately, unhealthy choices tend to be made by many people around this time. If you are one of these people, this post is for you because it will outline some helpful tips on how to make the holidays enjoyable, yet healthy.
Tip #1: Try out substituting healthy alternatives for some of your favorite holiday treats and ingredients. For instance, instead of a traditional slice of pumpkin pie, try out the protein smoothie version that is just as delicious yet has much less calories, fat, and sugar. Another example would be using a vegetable oil spread instead of butter for a variety of foods, such as bread rolls.
Tip #2: Feel free to indulge a little bit every so often! Yes, it is perfectly fine to have some of Grandma’s holiday cookies or fudge. It is the holiday season after all and no one wants to offend Grandma, right? Also, did you know that totally depriving yourself could eventually lead to unhealthy binging on such treats? The bottom line is that you should be fine as long as you don’t overindulge or consume these treats on a regular basis.
Tip #3: Take a weight management supplement. Let’s face it; you will more than likely be eating and drinking unhealthy foods and beverages more often than normal. It’s no secret that these things can cause you to gain unwanted weight and body fat. Hence, a fat burner supplement would be especially helpful this time of year.
Tip #4: Stick with your regular workout regimen. Yes, this time of year tends to be more hectic, but that is no excuse for neglecting the gym and losing all of the results that you worked so hard for in previous seasons. The key here is to plan ahead (even write down a schedule if necessary) and stay motivated. One of the best ways to stay motivated is to get a workout partner that can give you that extra push when you are feeling lazy, tired, and so forth.
Tip #5: Stay calm and don’t sweat the small stuff. The truth is that the holidays can be a pretty stressful time due to things like party planning and gift shopping. However, it doesn’t have to be! Just take everything one step at a time and be sure to make time to do activities that you find to be relaxing, such as reading or walking the dog.
Tip #6: Stick to healthy sleeping patterns. It’s perfectly fine to stay up later than usual because of that holiday party, but just be sure that you are able to devote enough time for sleep. Specifically, you should get about 8 hours each day.
Tip #7: Make sure that your immune system is in top shape. Illnesses like the cold are rampant this time of year and they can throw a wrench in the mix when it comes to your holiday plans. Help prevent these ailments by getting enough essential nutrients, such as vitamin C and zinc.
Don’t wait until the New Year to start making healthy choices again. Yes, healthy living can be more challenging during the holiday season. However, the seven tips mentioned will definitely make it easier for you.
